Draw Near with Confidence

“Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:14 – 16

When I was asked to do a Bible study cover for a study that comprehends the whole book of Hebrews, these verses stood out to me.

The image I chose to go along with the text is that of someone laboring in prayer in an olive garden.

Of course, the great High Priest of all labored in prayer in the garden of Gethsemane for Himself, for us, for the kingdom of God.

Choosing colors, I decided to letter in royal purple, alluding to the royal nature and character of this Priest.

By the use of light and shadow in the watercolor painting, the figure incorporates nearly all skin tones and hair colors, because “The mountain of the house of the LORD

Will be established as the chief of the mountains,

And will be raised above the hills;

And all the nations will stream to it.

3And many peoples will come and say,

“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD,

To the house of the God of Jacob;

That He may teach us concerning His ways,

And that we may walk in His paths.” ~ Isaiah 2
