“ ‘But it does not seem that I can trust anyone,' said Frodo.
Sam looked at him unhappily. 'It all depends on what you want,' put in Merry. 'You can trust us to stick with you through thick and thin--to the bitter end. And you can trust us to keep any secret of yours--closer than you keep it yourself. But you cannot trust us to let you face trouble alone, and go off without a word. We are your friends, Frodo.’ “
~ J. R. R. Tolkien, Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring

September is my favorite month, for many reasons, not the least of which is that it has come to be a month of fellowship, with hobbit-ish comforts, and mountain forays, tea and treats and birthdays. 🫖 🧁
September also brings with it a delicious snap in the air, the first whisper of the decline of the fruitful year. 🌬 💨 🍁 ❄️
With each year that passes, it becomes more evident to me that the true friends are the ones you can trust to tell you about the dragon ahead...and who will walk with you into its jaws. 🐉 ⚔️ 🧙🏻♂️
.
New print in shop: this Watercolor Fellowship began as a watercolor sketch for a calendar. 📆
When the year ended, I found that I could not let this friendly fellowship go, so they are now a card, a print and a sticker in my shop. 🧝🏻♀️ 🛍
This time of year, I think of doing another calendar....maybe Jane Austen this time?
With kindest regards,
Nancy
